WHO CAN ENTER

The Competition is open to all living British and international artists over the age of 18 years old on 1st March 2019.

ENTRY FEE

Members of the Society can enter up to 3 works for free.

Non-members can enter up to 2 works.

1 work – £15

2 works – £27

Young artists (aged 18 – 25) may submit up to 2 works at £5 per work.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Exhibits may be paintings, sculpture, drawings, prints or mixed media. Digital prints and collaborative artworks can be submitted – see rules and guidelines for further details. No photography or Giclée reproductions will be accepted.

Exhibits must be original, the artist’s unaided work.

There are no size or weight restrictions within reason. The gallery does show off larger works to advantage; sizes of up to 150cm have been exhibited previously but bear in mind that even if a work is accepted there may not always be room to hang it. Sculptures should be stable and safe to exhibit.

Works must be for sale for a minimum of £100, with the exception of prints.

SELECTORS

Initial online selection will be by a representative panel of society members.

The physical selection process for wall hung work will be by a panel of society members and guest selectors including: David Inshaw RWA, Jim Riseley (The Victoria Art Gallery) and David Simon (David Simon Contemporary).

The physical selection process for 3D work will be by a panel of society members and guest selectors including: Katie Ackrill (The Pound Art Centre).

Prizes (apart from the Public Choice Prize) will be judged by Dr. Chris Stephens, Director of The Holburne Museum and Rob Neil PRBSA Hon RWA Hon RBA and awarded at the Private View evening on Friday 17th May.

PREVIOUS SELECTION STATISTICS

2017

Total non-member entries were 560 of which 234 were selected (members works selected 171).

2018

Total non-member entries were 530 of which 198 were selected (members works selected 192)

2019

The Society will aim to preselect approximately 400 non-member entries of which it is expected that approximately 200 will be selected for the show.
